# Find Restaurants with Chat Mode

> Type your craving in plain language on the recommendation page and get instant Nigerian restaurant picks tailored to your city and taste.

Chat Mode lets you find Nigerian restaurants by describing what you want in plain language — no forms, no dropdowns. Type something like "budget buka in Lekki" or "best suya in Abuja" and the engine parses your message, identifies your city, and returns ranked restaurant picks with cultural context.

## How to use Chat Mode

    Open [/recommend](https://naijataste.onrender.com/recommend) in your browser.

    At the top of the page, click the **Chat** tab to switch to Chat Mode.

  <Step title="Type your craving">
    In the text box, describe what you want. Include a dish, a vibe, or a budget — and ideally your city. For example:

    * `Budget buka in Lekki`
    * `Best suya spots in Abuja`
    * `Affordable amala in Ibadan`
    * `Fine dining Port Harcourt`

    Press **Enter** or click the **Send** button. The engine processes your message and returns restaurant recommendations below the input.

## Quick prompts

If you're not sure what to type, use one of the four built-in quick prompts. Click any prompt to instantly populate the text box and run the search:

Click a prompt once to load it, then click **Send** or press **Enter** to run it.

## What you get back

Each recommendation appears as a card with:

* **Restaurant name** — the name of the spot
* **Reason** — a short explanation of why it matches your craving
* **Predicted rating** — an estimated star rating based on your query and taste signals
* **Cultural note** — context about the restaurant's vibe or signature dish in a Nigerian dining lens

## Tips and notes

<Tip>
  Always include a city name in your message. The engine recognises neighbourhoods too — "Lekki", "Victoria Island", "Maitama", and "Wuse" all map to their respective cities automatically.

  If you grant location access when prompted, Chat Mode uses your actual GPS coordinates to search within a 5km radius of where you are — not just the city centre. See [Geolocation](/guides/geolocation) for details.

  If no city is found in your message, the engine defaults to Lagos.

The engine recognises the following city keywords in your message:
